What do humans and flys have in common?

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

flyFlies who are trapped inside will see a closed window and fly towards it thinking it’s the way to freedom.  The fly hits the window and realizes that it’s hard and he still can’t get out.  Again and again he throws himself against that window an inch to the left 5 inches to the right, down 4 inches, up 7, and still he can see what looks like freedom and fresh air but he can’t reach it.  All day will go buy and the fly will still be throwing himself gliding along the closed window trying to get out to no avail.  The next day you look over at the window and see the dead fly on the floor.  I almost feel sorry for that fly.  Three feet away there’s a door that opened and closed 100’s of times through out the day so close to the window the fly would die on.  Have you ever noticed how much we humans do the same thing?  We see what is false freedom and we throw ourselves towards it.  Sadly, when we realize it isn’t freedom we don’t back up and start exploring every other opportunity with in 50 feet, we keep going back to the same approach that didn’t work in the first place.

How often are we only 2-3 feet (so to speak) from a real solution to our economic dilemma yet we keep throwing our selves against the closed window waiting for it to open.  Maybe now is the time to do something different.  Maybe NOW is the time to find the opening and closing door as an option for freedom.  Maybe now is the time to learn how successful business people think differently than those who are just getting by or those who are slowly failing right now.  Don’t end up like the dead fly on the floor only 3 feet from his fullness of life. Try something different.  Come to the Millionaire Mind Event on May 21st at 7pm. at the Ritz Charles and hear what T. Harv Eker has learned about money and your money blueprint.  Come hear what Harv learned about flying through the opening and closing door instead of trying for the closed window. www.millionairemindindy.com

learner1Another valuable lesson from Harv’s Millionaire Mind Cards.

Are you too old to learn new tricks? I find that I am not like old dogs at all! :) I am still learning new tricks. I am learning because I am hungry. I am hungry to know how to be a better mom, live in more peace of mind, have more harmony in my marriage, etc. I am not sure why I am wired like this but I know it’s true. In my drive to be those things I have learned one valuable lesson. No matter how hard you try you cannot skip rungs on the ladder. Try it sometime. Can you climb a really tall ladder without stepping on each rung? There are no shortcuts. And, if you are coasting you are going down hill. That’s why I have committed myself to learning, and continuing my education everyday. What do you do to learn a new trick each day?

One of the best tools to sharpen your edge is to surround yourself with positive and influencial people. Jack Canfield says, “think of the 5 people you spend the most time with, are they positive people? Do they help you to find the best in situations, do they bring out the best in you? If not it might be time to clean house.” Don’t get me wrong that doesn’t mean you drop your family out of your life if they aren’t positive people, but it might mean that you don’t spend quite as much time with them. Not because you don’t love and care for them but you begin to realize that your sense of what’s good in the world is affected by what those around you say and do.

Over the Easter holiday my family got together for a visit. My father would sit down, turn on the TV and find the news channels and the political talk shows that would get him all worked up about the new administration and everything that is going to go wrong now that Obama is in charge. It put him on edge, and then if the children were talking too much he couldn’t hear and that would make it worse. I found myself slipping into the same negative energy while I was around him. It was good to have the awareness to see what I was doing because it helped me stop and go in a new direction. How self aware are you? Can you tell when the people around you are influencing your mood? I have struggled at times to identify what event, conversation or situation triggered me to get so negative on a day that might have started out happy. However, I am getting much better at it and it isn’t taking me quite as long to get back to a good place within myself, but it takes practice.
